Word of Caution

When tracking and intuitive eating can possibly be problematic:

Nothing is one size fits all, and getting healthy is no different. Tracking macros is just one of many ways to improve your health, lose body fat, or put on muscle.

If you currently suffer from an eating disorder, or have a history of disordered eating, we do not recommend tracking your intakes on a daily basis, or in some case, at all. Tracking macros is a very tedious process and can get overwhelming at times. That paired with an unhealthy motivation to track is usually not going to be helpful in the ways you need. It’s important to look for a dietitian who specializes in eating disorders to help with your nutrition plan for achieving overall health goals. Don’t just look for someone who has had experience with eating disorders themselves. It’s so important to get professional help by looking for certifications and established programs.

We also don’t recommend tracking macros for anyone under 18. While everyone can benefit from learning about proteins, carbs, and fats early in life, it is not necessary for children and teens to track all of their intakes specifically. Small changes can be enough to make a big impact.

If you fall under either of these categories, head right to the INTUITIVE EATING PROTOCOL section. You will still find a ton of value in the topics reviewed there.
